2016 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

94 Points - Wine Advocate
“The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Malbec, 5% Merlot and 5% Rhône varieties aged in 37% new French oak for 20 months. Deep purple-black in color, it opens with crushed blueberries, black cherries and cassis with touches of yeast extract, beef dripping, bay leaves and cedar with a waft of lilacs. Medium-bodied and wonderfully elegant in the mouth, the palate reveals fantastic energy with a firm, grainy frame and long, mineral-laced finish.” - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, October 29, 2018

The 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is plush and inviting, with an enticing array of brambly blackberry fruit along with raspberry sorbet notes alongside nuances of lifted violet, allspice, sweet cinnamon, clove, cedar and crushed bay leaves. On the palate, the dark berry fruits proliferate with blackberry, plum and cassis, but there are also savory elements showcasing light herbal notes and earth, giving this Cabernet a classic depth and elegance. Seamlessly integrated oak and refined tannins provide a smooth mouthfeel and add layers of complexity, all wrapping up with a lengthy textured finish. Incredibly approachable and pleasing upon release, this wine is sure to impress and pair well alongside many culinary treats.

2016 Napa Valley Merlot

With freshness emphasizing its southern Napa origins, the 2016 Merlot is a combination of juicy black cherry, macerated strawberries, fig, vanilla and cherry cola. There are also delicate light floral rose petal, cocoa powder, forest floor and sweet baking spice notes, imparted from the oak ageing. The palate is generous and dense with mouth pleasing fruit flavors, polished structure, refreshing acidity, and plush tannins, leading to a lengthy finish, exhibiting a well-balanced wine that shows the true elegance of Merlot.

2018 Barrel Select Chardonnay

An elegant representation of the beautiful aromatics and flavor characteristics Chardonnay exhibits when the fruit is allowed to express itself from a cooler region within Napa Valley. This Barrel Selection Chardonnay shows lifted notes of candied lemon peel, honeysuckle, lightly toasted almond, marzipan and peach Tarte Tatin, which all come together in layers of mouthwatering complexity and depth. On the palate, you’ll find more citrus, lemon meringue, and hints of ginger spice, which all unfold into a luxurious, silky, vibrant and zingy mouthwatering finish. Exceptionally well-integrated oak enhances the nuanced spice complexity and elegant mouthfeel without overpowering the wine’s notable acidity. This Chardonnay invites you to sip, savor and repeat!

2016 The Leap Cabernet Sauvignon

96 Points - JamesSuckling.com
“This is a classic-styled cabernet from Stags’ Leap with wonderful polish and finesse. It’s all here, caressing your palate with currants and dark chocolate and pine nut undertones. Extremely long. Better after 2021.” - James Suckling, February 2020

Our 2016 The Leap Cabernet Sauvignon captures the distinctive personality of our estate vineyard and this incredible vintage, crafting a darkly intense, multilayered, rich and approachable wine with depth of fruit, plushness and creamy richness. This wine is classic Stags Leap District Cabernet, offering blackberry, blueberry and macerated strawberry aromas on the nose, along with subtle baking spice notes of cinnamon, milk chocolate and coffee, alongside more savory notes of black olive and chaparral herbs. On the palate, there is elegance, freshness and complexity, showing lifted dark blackberry, blueberry and black raspberry fruits followed by hints of chocolate, espresso and black pepper spice. With big, round, mouth-pleasing tannins and a silky, smooth lithe texture, this Cabernet exhibits the iconic power and intensity that have become synonymous with Stags’ Leap estate wines but drinks elegantly, demonstrating the opulence and grace of the estate.

2018 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc

This inaugural 2018 Sauvignon Blanc is lively, expressive and vibrant, exhibiting the variety’s classic citrus fruit, lemongrass and white floral nuances. Backed up by a lean focused line of acidity and a steely minerality that adds to the wine’s crispness and complexity. There is a depth of flavor with candied lemon peel, passion fruit and melon, alongside hints of white floral jasmine and white pepper that linger on the palate of the lengthy finish. Elegant, mouthwatering and savory, this Sauvignon Blanc is a perfect expression of Napa Valley, making it an ideal accompaniment to warm weather occasions. Enjoy on its own or pair with a wide variety of your favorite seafood, chicken or Mediterranean dishes.

2018 Napa Valley Petite Sirah

The 2017 Petite Sirah is vibrant and expressive with a cornucopia of blackberry, blueberry and black cherry fruits interwoven with floral musky notes of violet and jasmine, alongside more savory herbal notes of white pepper, earthy loam and crushed rock mineral notes. On the palate, juicy flavors of creamy cassis, macerated blackberry, cherry kirsch, black licorice and peppery plum envelope the rich, saturated mouthfeel, followed by a subtle black gunpowder tea, allspice and black pepper note from the oak ageing integrates seamlessly. This wine is intense and robust with velvety tannins and a generous lengthy finish, with acidity supporting throughout, encouraging you to enjoy it now, but has the depth and complexity to age for many years to come.

2019 Napa Valley Viognier

This Viognier is expressive, aromatic and fresh, highlighting the variety’s classic stone fruit and perfumed citrus blossom characteristics. With racing acidity and a steely minerality that adds to the wine’s crispness and complexity, there are layers of white peach, apricot, and lychee, alongside hints of key lime, feijoa, honeysuckle and orange blossom. Rich and luscious, the flavors are plentiful on the palate, leading to a very long elegant, delicately floral spiced finish. This Viognier is a mouthwatering expression of Viognier that is perfect for warm weather occasions offering a silky texture and roundness on the palate that invites you to take another sip, again and again. Enjoy on its own or pair with a wide variety of your favorite dishes.

2016 Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2016 Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon is a lovely expression of Cabernet coming from this relatively cooler appellation within the Napa Valley. The wine shows fresh ripe raspberry, boysenberry, black cherry and strawberry alongside more savory notes of vanilla spice, cedar and a sweet mocha/tiramisu-like character, from the well-integrated oak ageing. On the palate there is fresh Bing cherry and hints of blueberry, supported by a lifted chaparral note of wild sage and lavender. The structure is smooth, plush and velvety with a mouth filling texture that finishes with incredible balance and depth. The wine is generous, concentrated and complex unfolding with layers of fine tannins and well-integrated oak notes that persist throughout. This is a Cabernet lovers’ Cab that will age for many years to come.
