The Leap is a barrel selection, a blend of the best Cabernet Sauvignon blocks, lots and sub-lots in a given vintage. The 2009 was selected from over 20 blocks and numerous lots held separately in French oak barrels for 20 months and blended just prior to bottling. Keeping the lots separate allows Winemaker Christophe Paubert to evaluate and “grow” each lot individually, coaxing each to its maximum potential. A mix of fifty percent new and seasoned barrels allows the oak to “broadcast” but never overshadow the fruit.
