Our winemakers took a purist approach to show how this rare variety can excel in Napa Valley and highlighted the Malbec grape’s pleasing aromatics, color, and tannin profile in this wine. The grapes underwent a brief maceration period designed to gently extract flavor, color, and tannin from the skins. The wine was aged in French oak barrels (43% new) for 19 months to preserve the pure expression and freshness of the Malbec fruit.
The Malbec grapes for this bottling were sourced from across Napa Valley, including Oakville, Yountville, and the southern-most regions of the valley. Sourcing from these appellations within Napa Valley brought bright and fresh Malbec with vibrant acidity, alongside the variety’s typical plush dark fruit characteristics.

Our 2023 Vintage
2023 delivered one of the most prolonged and compact harvest seasons in recent years within the Napa Valley. The extended growing season delayed the start of harvest until the fifth of September —a notable two and a half weeks later than the previous year. This posed a logistical challenge in the cellar as tanks quickly filled and there was concern about completing harvest before the onset of the rainy season. Despite the challenges, our winemaking team rose to the occasion, and the 2023 harvest season delivered a bountiful yield of exceptional quality fruit. The grapes displayed intense color and complex flavors, maintaining a vibrant acidity that adds a distinctive character to what is sure to be remembered as a wine collector’s vintage.
