Our 2021 Audentia is a bold expression from our estate. The wine displays a dense, inky core with a garnet hue. It is full-bodied and concentrated, showing a perfumed nose that opens with saturated blackberry, blackcurrant, and brambleberry. Notes are layered with a floral lift and subtle hints of mocha, baking spices, and anise seed. On the palate, it delivers both opulence and poise. There’s a generous rush of ripe red and black fruits—black raspberries, cherries, and black plums. These are balanced by savory undertones of tobacco leaf, graphite, and crushed earth. Silky, fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity carry the wine through to a long, juicy finish. This wine showcases layered complexity with a graceful tension between richness and restraint. It can be enjoyed in its youth, but also rewards patience, as a few years in the cellar will allow it to soften and develop further nuance.

“Deeply brooding notes of blackcurrants, mulberry bush, mocha, sweet spices and licorice. The palate is full-bodied with fine tannins and balanced acidity, giving flavors of blood plums, mocha, tobacco leaves and graphite. Refined and pure. Drink or hold.” -Ryan Montgomery, JamesSuckling.com

“The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Audentia is a block selection from the estate vineyard in Stags Leap. A blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, it offers up raspberry and cherry aromas that somehow combine subtlety and intensity. It’s medium to full-bodied, framed on the palate by silky, fine-grained tannins, then is softly dusty yet firm on the prolonged finish. Give it a few years to soften and develop
bottle bouquet.” -Joe Czerwinksi, Robert Parker Wine Advocate
