Named for the Stags Leap Palisades' fleeting waterfalls that surround our estate after a winter rain, Twelve Falls Estate Red Wine blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec in equal proportions to the plantings of these varieties in our estate vineyard. Complex and exquisitely balanced, this wine celebrates the nexus of vine, soil and water, reflecting the essence of our historic property.
Stags’ Leap estate wines are especially concentrated because of the intentional, low-fruit yields of our estate vineyards. The 2023 Twelve Falls Estate Grown Red Wine exhibits this in a beautifully saturated, deep purple color. Its rich, black fruit aromas are sprinkled with a garni of black pepper, lavender, and rosemary notes, and grounded in the mushroom earthiness of a misty forest grove. Roasted nut and dark black plum flavors suffuse the intensely juicy palate, which displays a muscular body and exquisitely well-balanced structure. Bold, fine-grained tannins grip and uphold this savory compote of fruit through a long, persistent finish. Though this wine might benefit from up to 20-25 years of cellar aging, it can be enjoyed now with rich and hearty fare such as marbled Wagyu steak, beef bourguignon, cassoulet, or vegan chili.

Twelve Falls is a special, select blend of the finest blocks in the 2023 vintage, representing the best of the winery. Lots were kept separate throughout fermentation and aging, allowing our winemakers to evaluate each individually, coaxing them to maximum potential and complexity. The lots were
aged for 18 months in a mix of 36% new French oak barrels, 16% new American oak barrels, and 48% older, seasoned barrels, then blended just prior to bottling.
During the rainy season, waterfalls cascade down the Stags Leap palisades, which are the backdrop to the estate. On any given winter day, winery staff may spot up to twelve visible falls at one time. Twelve Falls Estate Red Wine is a tribute to our own Stags’ Leap Winery Estate Vineyards and blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec in proportions equal to the plantings of these varieties in our estate vineyard. Our 2023 Vintage
2023 delivered one of the most prolonged and compact harvest seasons in recent years within the Napa Valley. The extended growing season delayed the start of harvest until the fifth of September —a notable two and a half weeks later than the previous year. This posed a logistical challenge in the cellar as tanks quickly filled and there was concern about completing harvest before the onset of the rainy season. Despite the challenges, our winemaking team rose to the occasion, and the 2023 harvest season delivered a bountiful yield of exceptional quality fruit. The grapes displayed intense color and complex flavors, maintaining a vibrant acidity that adds a distinctive character to what is sure to be remembered as a wine collector’s vintage.
