Our 2023 Investor red blend opens with expressive aromas of Mission fig, wild blackberries, and perfumed violets, underscored by subtle accents of cedar spice. The nose carries both red and dark-fruited tones, offering layers of depth and complexity. The palate is expansive, rich, and velvety, with mouthcoating tannins and vibrant dark fruit. Waves of blackberry, Bing cherry, cassis, and dark plum unfold seamlessly, while savory elements of star anise, black tea, and dried potpourri bring freshness and nuance. Well integrated oak lends warmth and dimension leading to notes of crème brûlée, toasted almond, and bittersweet cocoa, enhancing the wine’s richness without overshadowing its vibrant fruit core. Offering both structure and approachability, this wine is balanced by a lively thread of acidity that keeps the blend energetic and focused. The finish is long and gently spiced, leaving behind impressions of dark fruit, baking spice, and dried herbs. Pair alongside braised short ribs, slow-cooked ragùs, roasted game, and other hearty, red-sauceddishes.
Oak treatment:Petite Sirah aged in American Oak (24% new) for 18 months; Bordeaux varieties in French oak (35% new) for 18 months
Maceration and fermentation followed suit for each of the varieties, which allowed our winemakers to monitor and evaluate each lot individually, coaxing each varietal to its maximum potential. The wine aged in oak for 18 months - the Petite Sirah in American oak barrels (24% new) while the Bordeaux varieties go to French oak (35% new). The final assemblage was blended just prior to bottling.
The Investor is a red wine that beautifully blends together the unique flavors and expressions of Merlot, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, resulting in a powerful, yet approachable assemblage with significant fruit presence. The Merlot contributes fresh red berry aromatics and a soft, velvety texture to balance the power of Petite Sirah, which adds concentration, tannins, spice, and blueberry flavors. The Cabernet Sauvignon further increases the final blend’s complexity and depth, and the Malbec’s incredibly vibrant floral aromatics heighten the blend’s freshness. Most of the Petite Sirah fruit comes from estate vineyards in the Stags Leap and Oak Knoll districts, and additional fruit is sourced from a diverse selection of northern and southern Napa Valley vineyards to broaden the wine’s floral and spicy characteristics. The Merlot is sourced from our estate vineyards in Carneros, while the Malbec comes from another estate vineyard in the Oakville district, and a selection of southern valley floor Cabernet Sauvignon fruit makes up the balance of the blend.

Our 2023 Vintage
2023 delivered one of the most prolonged and compact harvest seasons in recent years within the Napa Valley. The extended growing season delayed the start of harvest until the fifth of September—a notable two and a half weeks later than the previous year. This posed a logistical challenge in the cellar as tanks quickly filled and there was concern about completing harvest before the onset of the rainy season. Despite the challenges, our winemaking team rose to the occasion, and the 2023 harvest season delivered a bountiful yield of exceptional quality fruit. The grapes displayed intense color and complex flavors, maintaining a vibrant acidity that adds a distinctive character to what is sure to be remembered as a wine collector’s vintage.
