A Touch of Summer: Food and Wine Pairings

A Touch of Summer: Food and Wine Pairings

With summer approaching, the atmosphere is filled with the vibrancy of rejuvenation and merriment. What better way to welcome the season than with a well-chilled glass of your preferred Stags' Leap wine? Whether you're planning to add a touch of summer to your meal or dine al fresco, the following pairings will surely delight.

Invigorating Salads and Chilled Viognier

Our viognier is an epitome of summer, full of life and vitality with classic stone fruit notes, complemented by a fragrant floral bouquet. For a relaxed midweek gathering, try pairing it with a farm-fresh salad. Head to your local farmers market to gather seasonal produce such as bell peppers, zucchini, and tomatoes. Choose a bright, crisp lettuce like romaine or a spicy alternative such as rocket, and combine with your farmers market treasures. A simple dressing of olive oil, honey, mustard, and garlic will provide the perfect finish.

Grilled Seafood and Chardonnay

Our Napa Valley Chardonnay, with its hints of lemon verbena, Asian pear, and toasted brioche, is the perfect complement to a hearty portion of grilled halibut or salmon. Opt for the freshest fish available and let its flavors shine with just a drizzle of olive oil before grilling and a squeeze of lemon upon serving. Grill some seasonal vegetables such as bell peppers and eggplant along with the fish for a complete summer feast.

Petite Sirah and Alfresco Charcuterie

If you prefer to savor the warm weather rather than laboring in the kitchen, uncork a bottle of our petite sirah and assemble a charcuterie board to enjoy in the park or on your patio. The key to matching a charcuterie board with wine lies in the balance of flavors and textures. To accentuate the vibrant red fruit flavors in the wine and celebrate the best of summer, look for a strawberry or raspberry jam and herb-infused, salty nuts. When it comes to cheese, the rule of three applies — choose at least one soft, one medium, and one hard variety.
